A Goodbye to Greece featuring AlphaOmega

In honor of our last day, we had the opportunity to visit one last company. Visiting a well known pharmaceutical company named Alpha Omega was quite different from the other shipping companies that we have visited. Due to the specialized merchandise that the company ships, they have to take additional precautions and provide more analysis on their processes to ensure that the goods are getting to the customer in a timely manner. As Alpha Omega only delivers to Greece Islands and Towns they have to navigate various environmental restraints like moving through mountains. Yet during our presentation, it was stated that their deliveries take no longer than 24 hours to reach their destination. With their different logistics centers that manage both passive and active aspects of the shipping process, it certifies that the company is managing their time appropriately. Additionally, Alpha Omega stressed their different sustainability efforts from alternative fuel, to solar panels, and electric transportation that they implement to account for their emissions of greenhouse gases during shipment.

I found it extremely interesting to hear about their refrigerated units, and while extremely cold, being able to visit the location where they had thousands of medicine packages in a room that was between 2-8 degrees celsius made me curious to the conditions in which they are shipped during aviation. While on our tour we came across machines that would automatically wrap packages in plastics in order to prepare for shipments which I found extremely efficient and unique. To see all of the packages aligned throughout the warehouse truly reinforced the specifics of what truly goes on behind the scenes of our deliveries.
