The End of the Road

On our last day in Greece, we visited the Alfaomega Pharma-Logistics facility. Seeing how they effectively pack and send out orders was mesmerizing. It was interesting to see how each worker was quietly coordinated doing their jobs, representing teamwork skills I will have to reflect in my own career. Something unique about warehouses that I did not know was that a specific certification is necessary to operate in that environment. Due to the sensitivity of the product, this makes sense. I also noticed that the shelving units were massive, reminding me of the Costco shelves we have in our local Costco back home. As we walked through, we also saw a large freezer area to hold more temperature sensitive products. They also showed us a unique, custom, in-house developed packing machine that electronically tells the worker which product to pack. This is a unique engineering/automotive application that can be found in that warehouse environment. Overall, with the company visit and our farewell lunch, I am highly content with my travels to Athens as part of this program. I look forward to apply all of the things I have learned so far to my career as a bioengineer.
