Us in Uruguay!

Today was such an exciting day! We woke up bright and early to board a boat from Buenos Aires to Colonia, a small town on the coast of Uruguay. The boat ride only lasted about an hour and a half, and I slept for most of it.

Upon docking, we started with a walking tour to the central part of Colonia, and the town was so beautiful. The buildings reminded me of something in Spain or Greece, as they had a lot of terracotta and tiling. The town was full of small cafés and small shops/boutiques. There was also a wide variety of plants. There were so many dogs and cats roaming around. Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay all share the same natural flower- which I got to see all over Colonia. However, it being fall, the leaves were changing color and most flowers were going out of bloom.

After this, we boarded a bus that took us to Plaza de Toros Real San Carlos, a colloseum type building that got restored recently. The backstory of the restoration was intriguing to learn about, as it was a very long process.

Then, we got lunch where I got to try a Urugaryan sandwich, Chivito. It has two types of meat and an egg on it- it was delicious. After lunch, we had the opportunity to shop around for an hour before heading home!

All in all, today was one of my favorite days so far. I am so grateful for this opportunity to travel with an amazing group and awesome instructors like Jason! Jason always has such cool travel stories that give me motivation to study abroad and learn more languages.
