On our first full day there, we started the morning with hotel breakfast (10/10 rating by the way) and made our way over to the University of Augsburg to meet with our industry analysis groups.
This day was the first time we used the public transit system in Augsburg. I found the transportation system to be a great way to navigate around the city. While we were on the tram, I noticed how clean the city seemed which once again, is different than Oakland.
I thought the University of Augsburg had a beautiful campus and was excited to be able to talk more with the Augsburg students.
While at the university, we met with our groups to discuss our project further and then went to lunch at the campus dining hall. Walking into the dining hall, I was intimidated by the flow of students having conversation and ordering food. It was such a cool atmosphere to see the similarities that universities have across the world!
At the dining hall we met up with the master degree students who will be studying abroad at the University of Pittsburgh this coming fall! Talking with the German students was such a great way to learn more about the similarities and differences of the college experience. For example, one of the German students, Henrich, explained differences in education pricing, culture, and overall experience. The German students gave us a tour of the University along with leading us in a scavenger hunt throughout the city of Augsburg.
While on the scavenger hunt, my group was lead by Alissa who showed us some historical spots around the city. One spot that stood out to me was the Roten Tor, a historical gate that represented Augsburg architectural legacy and water managment systems. Once again, the scavenger hunt was a great way to learn more about this city.
We finished off the night with a group dinner at an italian restaurant called Dragone. I thought it was great how there are such delicious italian places in Germany! I ordered the margarita pizza and definitely want to get back to that restaurant again before I leave!
It was a great night of bonding with the German college students and learning more about the city!!
