This Tuesday was my birthday! Before departing for Germany I was so bummed that I wasn’t going to get to spend my birthday with my friends from home but, after the trip got into motion, I was so happy I got to spend this big day in Germany. I got to see BMW headquarters and celebrate with the other PLUS3 Germany students!
For some more detail, we got on the road bright and early at 7:00am. After what felt like a long bus ride we were finally there! We start going into the guest speaker talk where we learned more about development and supply chain of BMW. This was then shown visually on our BMW factory tour. This tour was my favorite so far! It was so interesting seeing the factory in operation. I was suprised by the fact that there was little to no people on the factory floor. The majority of workers in the factory were robots. At one point we were standing on a platform above one of the assembly lines. the conveyor belt held the parts of the car and in an instant, five robots per part began quickly working while sparks were flying. It was such a cool visual to see the way these big automotive industries make vehicles so quickly. Witnessing these robots made me excited to visit KUKA brand the following day.
Following the BMW factory tour we also got to see the BMW museum. My personal favorite part of the museum was seeing Elvis’ model of the BMW. While that moment was my favorite, there was so much to see at the museum and it was amazing at the development that BMW has been through since 1916.
Once we returned from Munich, it was time to celebrate my birthday! All of the PLUS3 Germany students and myself went to Enchillada for some Mexican food. I thought the food was great there and the environment had great vibes overall. I would definitely recommend it! This day was a great day and a birthday for the books!
