Day 11: Finding a voice at ANDD

Today we were able to visit the ANDD center, and it was a very rememberable experience. We were able to hear from women who took classes at the centers and their genuine appreciation for that they had learned made me even more interested in ANDD and the services/classes they offer. We heard from one woman there specifically who talked about how the class she took gave her a voice and allowed her to speak in front of others and her genuine happiness was very touching.

What we saw today was similar to what we have seen in many ways while at the same time being very different. Unlike the other places that mainly build up companies, it seems as if ANDD more builds up the people, giving them skills that will allow them to be successful in their future. Similarly, they both work to help support small businesses to help them find success and help to support small entrepreneurs.

We met a lot of women today and it was very interesting and inspiring to hear their story. It was also very nice that the ladies had their products out and you could see exactly what they sold and offered and the fact that they shared their Instagram was also very special too. All of the women we talked to were mainly helped by taking a class with Ai to further help their business. I thought that was very interesting because I did not really think about someone taking a class to learn Ai better, but they used it to help with captions to sound more professional and to make their Instagram photos look better.

Overall, I really thankful to be able to hear from all of the women today and about their experiences that they had at the ANDD center. But most of all I am thankful I entered the bathroom right before Meade, so it was not me who got stuck in the bathroom. Just kidding! But seriously sorry Meade that seemed terrifying.

See you again tomorrow for our last full day with our host family 🙁 Bye!!
