Friday, we finally had some time to relax and catch up on sleep. Before our talk later in the day, a group of us decided to visit the Schaezlerpalais, an art museum with a gorgeous Golden Hall featuring detailed stucco work and frescoed ceilings. Every historic building I have visited here seems to have incredible architecture and artwork, and this one was no exception.
While we were exploring the museum, we were told that some areas would be closed for a wedding, especially the garden area, which we could see from above. It looked like the perfect wedding venue. Looking out onto the main street, however, we noticed a group of people celebrating by the fountain. It turns out there were several wedding celebrations happening at the same time. I had never seen multiple people getting married in one place before. Everyone looked so happy celebrating with their closest family and friends. It made me wonder whether there was something special about that particular day or if this was a German tradition.
Once we got to the university, we met with William Wilkes, who spoke to us about the European automotive industry. Since he has worked in this field for many years, he had a lot of interesting perspectives on the current market. In some of our previous discussions, it felt like companies were focused on showing how they are keeping up with trends and positioning themselves for future success. However, William offered a different perspective because he was more unbiased and explained how companies compare to one another from an industry-wide point of view.
Afterward, my presentation group decided to walk to the WWK Arena, home of the FC Augsburg, which was about a 30-minute walk from campus. After quite an interesting journey, we finally made it. The stadium was huge and looked super cool from the outside. Even though we couldn’t go inside, I picked up some merch from the fan shop to show my support. Maybe now I’ll actually start watching games.
I ended the night by going out to dinner with a group of the girls, where we got to catch up and talk about our days. See you tomorrow, Munich!
