Day 12: The Last Site Visit

Today we went to Audi in Ingolstodt and I have been highly anticipating this one as it is my group for the project and we definitely had some final questions that needed to be answered! It was a pleasant start to our morning because we did not need to be ready at the crack of dawn. We already had our presentation from Patrick Will, so today was just a factory tour. Just from a first glance at the facilities, it was amazing and there were Audi cars as far as the eye could see. We had some time to go to the gift shop and walk around before our tours, so I got my brother a cool shirt and of course, sat in some of the show cars and found my dream car. I’m thinking of an Audi RS Q8, maybe silver with black rims? Just kidding, maybe in my dreams.

It was time for our tour and I can easily say, the best tour of the entire trip. We were given smart phone devices and there were certain times during the tour that we would be directed to watch a short production clip on them while our tour guide explained the process. I thought this was very advanced compared to some of the other tours because it gave us a chance to see every little detail even if it wasn’t visible in the factory for us. It was really cool because we were able to see the entire production line, which was very extensive and had more human involvement than BMW. One of the coolest areas was where the batteries are made because Audi produces their batteries themselves, which sets them apart from other luxury car manufacturers.

After the tour, we got lunch at their canteen and they had a huge selection to choose from. I had pork schnitzel and it may have honestly been the best schnitzel of the whole trip. I also noticed that all of the employees were very friendly and didn’t seem to be bothered by 20 American students infiltrating their lunch break!

After Audi, we went back to the Ibis and pretty much chilled and worked on our projects for the rest of the day. My group and I chatted for a little bit and set a time to meet for tomorrow, then I did some work in the lobby with others. I can’t believe tomorrow is already presentation day… This trip is flying by faster than I imagined and I am dreading it coming to an end.

My Group and I with the rings!
