This morning I woke up and hopped right on a bus to go to what is called Weißwürstfruhstuck, or in English terms “white sausage breakfast”. This breakfast took place on a farm about 40 minutes away from our hotel. We were able to drive out through the farmland and observe the beautiful scenery on the way there even though it was raining.
Once we arrived at the breakfast, we had a bit of a scare because we thought that the breakfast place was closed. Luckily, we were just in the wrong place and it was right down the road. This breakfast only happens on Thursdays and it was packed with locals from the community. It was really a hidden gem. We stuck out like sore thumbs and there was certainly lots of staring directed at us. First they brought us white sausages that consisted of veal and pork. We also had a delicious Bavarian soft pretzel. There was also a beautifully aggreged plate of cheese. The cherry on top of this meal was the delicious sweet mustard that went perfectly with all the foods. It was very interesting to see that even at 9am every single person eating this breakfast also had a tall pint of beer. We were the odd ones out without any and it was very surprising that everyone was drinking so early in the morning.

After this breakfast we headed back to the hotel to relax for a little while and I was able to catch up on some work I needed to get done by the end of the day. Following this break, we all hopped on the street-car and rode it to Forvia because this company was in Augsburg. This company was similar to the others because it also focuses on the automobile industry. One significant difference between Forvia and the other companies is that they have a section of their factory that is completely automated from start to finish. This section of the factory produced valves for Volkswagen and had no human input whatsoever. The pieces got placed on a tray and carried on a conveyor belt through welding robots, assembly robots, and then finally a robot to test the part. This was one of the coolest things I have ever seen, but unfortunately they wouldn’t let me take pictures to share with the probably one or two people reading this (haha). Overall Forvia was much more similar to Grob, and Hoerbiger is left standing by itself with older technology. Forvia has much more ability to change its manufacturing from ICEs (Internal Combustion Engines) to something new such as hydrogen power.

After this tour we came back to the hotel and had free time in which we went to a Bavarian restaurant to get dinner. I ordered the currywurst and it was the biggest sausage I have ever seen. It was very delicious. After this dinner we all came back to the hotel and right now I’m finishing up writing the blog. I am very tired today, so no exploring the town tonight for me. I think I’ll be in bed by 10pm and be getting excited to tour Audi tomorrow!
