Castle Neuschwanstein & Wieskirche – Day 5

Hallo! Today was by far one of my favorite days. After a quick bus ride, we made our way to see Castle Neuschwanstein. To get to the view from the bridge, we had to hike up a steep hill about a mile or so. While this was not the most enjoyable hike, the views along the way were so beautiful to see. Once we made it to the top, we had the opportunity to walk out onto a viewing bridge and see the castle in the distance. The view was unbelievable! Such an incredible experience with people who are quickly becoming amazing friends.

After we finished at the viewing bridge, we walked part way back down the hill to take a tour of the castle. It was incredible to see, even though the second floor was not finished, to think that someone lived in this castle even part of their time. The spaces were beautiful, everything was very spacious, and all for one person to enjoy! On our way down the hill, we stopped to get amazing powdered doughnuts of sorts that were delicious. I ended up being able to order in German with a little bit of assistance which is something I have not been able to do often! It was not great German, but they understood and were able to get me what I needed.

Once we finished at Neuschwanstein, we made our way to a little town called Fuessen. In the town I got chicken schnitzel and fries which I split with Julie and Kalynn since we were all still filled up on the doughnuts. Before leaving Fuessen, a few of us made our way to walk around a local flea market in town. Once we left that area, before heading back into Augsburg, we stopped at a church called Wieskirche. Upon arrival, we got to hear one last song of a one and half hour concert in the church. This was such an amazing opportunity to hear the acoustics in the church live. After the concert ended, we made our way around to look at the amazing art work on the walls and ceiling. Everything we saw today was something I will forever be grateful to have seen in person. I look forward to the rest of this week!
