Bilbao – Day 2

Today, the first stop was heading to the Bilbao School of Engineering to learn about the city of Bilbao and its history. After this, we went on three different tours of their clubs. The first club was their formula racing club. They make their own car and race it in a regional race. They were testing the waterproofing on the car they developed as it is fully electric. The next club was their guitar making club. Here, they showed us multiple electric guitars that they had made from scratch. They used only recycled materials and made the guitars as cheaply as possible. Aiden knew how to play the guitar and played a quick song for us and the guitar club. Third, we went to the rocket club where they showed us their design, planning, and execution process. They talked about how their goal is to reach the end of the Earth’s atmosphere.

Next, we ended up going on a tour of Bilbao’s Old Town which was very cool to see. We were able to learn about more history of the Basque region and see a lot of interesting architecture (pictured). I learned about the Guggenheim effect where the city was changed from a very industrial city that was dirty to the city it is today. Lastly, we had a long dinner at a nice restaurant. Overall, a wonderful day once again.
