Bilbao – Day 5

Today was a little different. We started off the day by splitting into two groups. My group started off by going to Bilbao’s market. This was a two story building filled with the most fresh food and pastries you could think of, and then when you thought it was all done there was another whole floor filled with fruit, cheese, and meat. I really wish we had something like this in the US as I would love to buy all fresh food especially at Spain’s low prices. Next up for the group was going to a cooking class. This was definitely a highlight of my trip. We started off by mixing a couple ingredients to prepare for our dessert. We then made our own pinxos! (Pictured) Both of which comprised of foods that I would definitely not normally eat such as olives and anchovies, but I tried both and loved them. (Maybe it’s just because I made them) I then got to watch my friends make the traditional Spanish tortilla which tasted amazing.

Next up for the day was going on Bilbao’s incline. This reminded me of Pittsburgh for obvious reasons but the Bilbao one was much longer (or maybe just felt like it). The incline led to a spectacular view of the entire city and the clouds above. (Pictured) I really think this is one of the most spectacular views I’ve ever seen in my life. Overall a busy, yet successful day.
