This trip created great memories and I learned new lessons along the way. On our final day we all listened to each other’s group presentations. My group was the public sector and I discussed the economic challenges of their system like inflation. It was a great way to wrap up the trip and see what we learned. These presentations made much more sense now compared to the pre-presentation we did in April so I know I learned a lot these past two weeks. Furthermore, I will never take the U.S healthcare system for granted again. I always thought it was nice that other countries have free healthcare, but the hospitals here showed me that the public hospitals have a lot of challenges. There were such drastic differences between the private hospitals and public hospitals. It’s sad to see how little funding the public hospitals get from municipalities and provinces. I give the nurses so much credit for how hard they work. I can’t imagine how hard it must be to go to different hospitals for shifts to make ends meet. It must also be extremely difficult and exhausting to not have updated technology and hand written files.will always keep these hospitals in mind when helping people as a nurse.
Not only did I learn educational lessons about the hospitals, but I learned life lessons. Witnessing the struggles of low income neighborhoods was eye opening. I’m grateful I get to go home to a warm house and food on the table. Participating in this study abroad program created shared experiences which led to life long memories. I love every single person on this trip and I’m so grateful for my new life long friendships! We all created such fun memories like going to dinner every night or wandering around the streets looking for souvenirs. I wouldn’t have wanted to go on this trip with any other group of people!
I can’t believe this trip has come to an end and I’m sad to leave everyone. I would recommend Plus3 study abroad to anyone and I’m so happy I chose to go to Argentina!
