Today was our last scheduled day of the trip. Many of us were sad because today was the beginning of the end. Our first visit was to the United States Consulate because our originally company visit was canceled. However, the US Consulate was very interesting. We went into a classroom and the US diplomat talked to us about his role in Busan and in Korea in general, He also gave us a brief overview of the political history of Korean. After the overview, he showed us the entire consulate, which consisted of only a few rooms. He also mentioned that he is the only American person there, supported by several locals. We took a picture with him and then had a traditional Korean meal with some very good sweet and spicy chicken. After lunch, we walked to Pusan National University (PNU) for a last official scheduled tour. We learned about PNU’s summer programs. Then a professor gave us a quick lecture about North Korea. The lecture was on how the Kim Dynasty stays in power and why they do what they do. Afterwards, the University staff and a few students gave us a tour of their engineering schools. PNU has an incredible number of 3D printers available for student use. This concluded our tour of South Korea and we headed back to the hotel. After all the company, university, and cultural visits, I have learned so much about Korean history, culture, and business. This study abroad was truly a life changing experience. A group of us decided to venture out before leaving South Korea. So, we went to a huge department store which had an amazing indoor water and light show. I bought some more souvenirs and grabbed some food to eat. As we were about to sit down, we found another group of people from our trip. We all hung out and talked a little about the final presentations we were giving the next day. We all then headed back to the hotel for a good night’s rest.
