My First Time at a Ranch

Hey everyone! I can’t believe we’re over half way through our study abroad trip in Buenos Aires. Time flies when you’re exploring a beautiful new city! Today we drove and hour and a half to spend the day in Luján. The drive was very much worth it because today was my favorite day thus far!

After an 8:30am wakeup call, we enjoyed the hotel breakfast and boarded the van. Our first stop of the day was the Basilica of Luján. This was the most beautiful church I have ever seen. There was mass going on with twelve priests in attendance, and some priests were located along the sides of the church holding confessions. As we walked through the church, there were some historical paintings and statues along the side of biblical figures. There were also some dogs in the church, and they were surprisingly very well-behaved. My dogs could never!

After visiting the Basilica, we hopped back into the van and drove a few minutes to our next destination- a ranch! I was expecting to see cowboys on horses when we arrived, but that was not the case. This ranch was enormous. There were swimming pools, animals in a barn, bike trails, and a huge outdoor seating area. During our visit to the ranch, several activities were offered for us to participate in. My friends and I rode bikes, took a ride on a tractor, and tried archery for the first time. I can’t believe I almost got a bullseye on my first try! The employees at the ranch were amazing. They prepared us homemade snacks when we arrived along with a great lunch. They offered eight or more different portions of meat! There was chorizo, blood sausage (I refused to try), pork, and several others. They also supplied a salad bar with so many vegetable and dressing options. The lunch was incredible, and I had a great time talking to everyone while enjoying our food. After eating, we were taken to a dessert bar. I’m not sure what my dessert was called, but it was sort of a mousse, and it tasted amazing. It was the perfect day to spend outside, so I’m so glad we had the chance to spend our whole day outside! We stayed at the ranch until around 5:30, then we boarded the van and headed back to the hotel.

Today was such an amazing day, but tomorrow is even more special because it’s Mother’s Day! My mom is my best friend and a huge inspiration to me. She’s very hardworking and will do anything help those she loves. Whether it’s driving four hours to a soccer tournament after attending an eight hour track invitational or driving my friends and I around when we were young, my mom did so much for me and I’m very thankful to have her. My mom is my biggest supporter and has always pushed me to follow my dreams- which is another factor of why I’m on this trip! My mom helped give me an amazing childhood and guided me through the start of adulthood. I’m so grateful to have an amazing role model like her to look up to. I love you mom, and I hope you have a great Mother’s Day! See you soon!

Tomorrow we’re visiting Museo Evita and Parque de la Memoria. I’m excited to spend time with my friends and tour these historic destinations.
