As today I fly back home from Ireland, there is so much to reflect back on. This has been one of the best trips of my life for so many reasons, and I am not sure if it will ever be topped. It’s definitely sad to leave. To start off, Phil and Meade are two amazing people, and I wouldn’t have rather had any other professors for this trip. They took care of us and allowed us to learn SO much and get the full Ireland experience. They deserve a raise.
The group of students from Pitt are some of the most amazing individuals that I have ever met. I wouldn’t have got the most out of this trip without them. I’d like to call them some of my best friends that were just strangers 2 weeks ago. Not only do I have some great friends now, but I have expanded my network through personal beliefs, shared interests, and a whole lot of fun. If you look at the photos of us attached below, you can see the pure happiness we all give each other. This group will be missed and is irreplaceable.
More on the business note, in my very first Blog I mentioned what things I’d like to take away from the trip. My expectations and goals were exceeded 10 times over. After visiting Microsoft, Google, The GEC, FoodCloud, DocuSign and THINKHOUSE. Each company gave us an hour presentation and allowed for about an hour of questions, which I utilized to the fullest, asking each company questions. See the rest of my blogs for further detail on what I learned and specific company reflections.
As my consulting project has been wrapped up, I can confidently say that I understand multinational corporation culture in Ireland as well as Irish culture as a whole. In understanding Irish culture and how these companies run in Europe, this will give me a sure advantage over my peers when going into the workforce. This allowed me to confirm with full confidence that I want to work for a multinational corporation within the international business side. I like the challenge and the
Socially, I was able to indulge myself in the Irish culture by going to pubs, talking to locals, and being fed numerous historic and cultural speeches/presentations which gave me background for why the Irish are and behave as they do. I love the Irish people and they are so much fun to be around. From the companies like Google, to the local pubs, Ireland is filled with people from all around the world.
To conclude this once in a lifetime trip, weather I want to or not, it is one for the books. I have expanded my network, learned so much about multinational businesses/AI, and prepared myself to set apart from my peers even more than I previously had. This trip was well worth the money I paid for it and again, I am so sad its over. Now, I am ready to begin my internship with PNC Bank and begin using what I learned immediately.
