Augsburg Day 1 – We’ve Arrived!

After getting to know everyone a little bit over our stay at Nordenberg, we were off to Germany. I am a big fan of the aura of airports so I had a fun time getting in some movement and quality time with my peers on the way. As for the flight itself I was happy and thankful for my ability to fall asleep anywhere. I arrived in Germany fairly rested and ready to start the day.

Upon arrival we were introduced to Elisabeth and Nikolas who were very sweet and welcoming. They gave us money, bus passes, meal vouchers, and other essentials that were needed for the trip. After that they showed us around the city and we had sandwiches and pretzels. It was a fun way to settle in and get to know them.

After exploring the city we got to tour the Fuggerei House. We learned about the churches and more Germany history which was fascinating. I really enjoy the tours of homes to picture what it would be like to live the way these people did, so different than me!

The weather was beautiful before it started pouring when we headed over to dinner. But I thought us coming to dinner soaked from the rain was something I would never forget upon meeting the German students. We talked about American vs German stereotypes and life in America vs Germany in general. They helped us read the German menu and guided us in the direction of choosing the best options for dinner. They were all very sweet and excited to meet us as I was very excited to meet them. I am looking forward to getting to know more about them and what life would be like in Augsburg for a university student like me.
