Hi! My name is Sydney Hares and I am a first-year nursing student at the Pitt-Greensburg campus. My passion is to become a pediatric nurse and work in the oncology department. I am 19 years old from Canonsburg, PA, and have been living there my whole life. I also play soccer for the women’s team here at UPG, and I have been playing since I was 4 years old. Being a student-athlete has helped me build strong time management skills and taught me the importance of teamwork and discipline. Outside of school and soccer, I enjoy simple, relaxing hobbies like coloring and going on walks, especially when I need to unwind. I also love spending time with my dog, who is a big part of my daily routine and helps me de-stress when I’m home from college. Nursing is something I’m really passionate about because I want to help people and make a difference in their lives. Overall, I’d describe myself as hardworking, caring, and always looking for ways to grow both personally and professionally.
I am really excited about the opportunity to travel to the United Kingdom for this school trip because I’ve always wanted to experience a new culture, and I think this trip would allow me to learn so much beyond the classroom. Being able to see historical landmarks, explore new cities, and experience a different way of life is something I’ve looked forward to for a long time. I’m especially excited to meet new people and step outside of my comfort zone, which I think will help me become more independent. As a college student, this feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grow, learn, and create unforgettable memories. I know this experience would have a lasting impact on me both academically and personally.
