From Pennsylvania to Ecuador!!

Hello, my name is Mark DiPalma, and I’m from Monroeville, Pennsylvania. I’ve just completed my freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where I’m currently pursuing a dual major in Supply Chain Management and Cybersecurity. I chose this path because I’m fascinated by the intersection of logistics, technology, and global business areas that are increasingly important in today’s interconnected world. I consider myself an active and adventurous person, always eager to explore new experiences and step outside of my comfort zone. Whether it’s picking up a new hobby, trying unique and unfamiliar foods, or engaging in a sport I’ve never played before, I enjoy the challenge and growth that come with novelty. Most recently, I joined the club Rugby team at school. Although it came with a few bumps and bruises, it also gave me a sense of camaraderie, new friendships, and unforgettable memories. Beyond the classroom and the rugby field, I strive to stay involved on campus through organizations and clubs. This past spring semester, I took a big step by joining the Delta Chi fraternity at Pitt Johnstown. Becoming a member of Delta Chi has been a transformative experience for me. It has helped me grow not only as a student but also as a friend, a leader, and a future professional. The fraternity has given me a supportive community and valuable opportunities for personal development and leadership.

This summer, I’m excited to be traveling to Ecuador. A country rich in culture, history, and biodiversity. Studying abroad has always been one of my top college goals, inspired by my older brothers who also studied abroad and spoke highly of the friendships, lessons, and life-changing moments they experienced. I see this trip as a unique chance to immerse myself in a new culture, broaden my global perspective, and continue my personal and academic growth. I specifically chose Ecuador for its vibrant culture and its relevance to my field of study. I’m especially interested in learning about international supply chains and how they operate in different economic and cultural contexts. I’m looking forward to engaging in hands-on experiences that will deepen my understanding of global business operations and give me real-world insight that I can bring back to my studies.

Overall, I view this trip not just as an academic experience, but as an adventure—one that will challenge me, inspire me, and ultimately shape me into a more informed and adaptable person. I’m excited to embrace every opportunity that comes my way and make the most of this incredible journey.
