This morning I was able to sleep in a little, wake up, and enjoy our awesome hotel breakfast while putting the final touches on our group presentation about KUKA, the robotics company we toured the week prior. It has been very interesting learning about them as a company and understanding how manufacturers like BMW and Audi would be far less efficient and profitable in production without the automation systems KUKA provides.
Another great part of the project was being able to meet and work with the German students. It was definitely difficult at first, but we rallied together and, in my opinion, created a very strong presentation despite how busy and packed the trip has been. I had also never used Canva before, so learning it on the fly was challenging at first. Now that I understand it better, though, I will definitely use it again in the future.
The project presentations were all awesome and unique in their own ways. It was cool hearing new ideas and different approaches that groups recommended companies take in order to remain effective and competitive in the future through their research. It will also be interesting to see what those companies actually do in the coming years and whether they integrate any of the ideas the groups mentioned.
After our last streetcar ride back from Augsburg University, our entire group, including the German students, went to a farewell dinner at Ratskeller Augsburg. The German students explained how important town meetings and discussions among influential members of society were once held there over meals. They also told me about the Flammkuchen, which they described as German pizza. It was definitely more of a thin crust flatbread, but it was still very good.
For my main course, I ordered the creamy turkey dish with egg noodles. The dish was excellent, but after seeing some of my peers get the original Ratskeller schnitzel, I kind of wished I had ordered that instead. The fries and jam sauce looked incredible. I am honestly debating going back there tomorrow night for my final meal just to try that exact dish.
