We’ve been here for a week now, and it has already been an incredible experience. We’ve been constantly on the move, doing so many activities each day that it can definitely get tiring, but I know it will be amazing to look back on this trip and remember everything we’ve done. After an hour long train ride to Munich, we walked through the city and met in the center of town in front of the Munich New Town Hall, a neogothic building built in the late 1800s. It is located in the heart of Munich, and is known for its daily performances featuring bells and life sized figures that celebrate the city’s history. We spent about fifteen minutes watching the performance before going off to explore with our free time before our city tour. A group of us decided to walk to Eisbachwelle, a famous surfing spot in the city, where we watched surfers ride the waves for a while.

After that, a few of us headed to Hofbrauhaus for a late lunch. I ordered roast chicken with potato salad, and it was easily one of the best meals I’ve had on the trip so far. We still had some time before our tour started, so I stopped at H&M to buy a pair of jeans after waiting too long to try them on. Not long after, I had another unexpected European experience, which was paying to use the bathroom, something I never thought I’d actually do. Later, the group met back up in the center of town to begin our guided tour of Munich. As we walked through the city, we learned a lot about its architecture, culture, and history. I had always heard about Munich because of FC Bayern Munich, but actually being there in person felt surreal. After a long day of exploring, we walked to a burger restaurant for dinner. By that point we were starving, so the food really hit the spot and tasted amazing. Finally, we headed back to the train station to end yet another adventurous day here in Germany.
