Hi! I’m Grant Clark, and I’ll be traveling to Prague this Summer for the Pitt Prague3 Czech Republic Program. On a personal level, I’m a purpose driven man of God with a desire to better the world and people around me. I am passionate about serving and helping people, and that drives my everyday life. From community outreach to simple conversations with my friends, I look for opportunities to have a positive impact. On an educational level, I am a dual degree student at the University of Pittsburgh with a focus in Physics and Mechanical Engineering. I’m currently a senior in a 5-year program that’s split between the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University. My first three years were at Duquesne where I focused on Physics and my last couple of years are at Pitt where I am studying Mechanical Engineering. It’s difficult to describe myself professionally, as I am still a full-time student, but I can certainly touch on what my professional passions in engineering are. I have a passion for innovation, system integration and development, and product capability development. These technical passions are subsets of my larger passion: using engineering to impact underdeveloped communities around the world and to inspire productive conversations in International Relations.
I’m studying in the Plus3 Prague Transfer program. I chose this program because it’s an opportunity for me to understand how engineering industries have provided both practical and socio-economical solutions; it’s an opportunity for me to learn about the holistic impacts of engineering, and how that can affect a nation’s culture and society. I hope to learn about how engineering has impacted another country, in both a technical and culture sense, while learning about the country’s culture and history.
