Day 3 – Past Meets Present in Nuremberg

Today we took a trip outside of Augsburg and headed to Nuremberg. I didn’t know exactly what to expect going into it but I ended up really enjoying it. The city had such a cool mix of history and charm. One of my favorite parts was walking up to the castle. The view from the top was amazing and the buildings in that area felt like something out of a storybook. I was really impressed by the architecture throughout the whole city. You could tell how much history was built into every street and structure.

For lunch we stopped at a small place right next to the castle. I decided to try sausages with sauerkraut for the first time. I wasn’t totally sure what to expect but it was definitely an interesting dish. It felt like one of those meals you have to try while in Germany and I’m glad I did.

In the afternoon we visited MAN Truck and Bus for a tour of their factory. This part of the day felt completely different from the morning. The factory was so modern and impressive. Everything from the layout to the timing of the assembly line seemed extremely organized. I was amazed by how efficient the whole process was and how well the teams worked together to keep everything moving.

It was interesting to experience both the old and the new in one day. Nuremberg had so much traditional charm and history while MAN gave us a look at high level technology and industrial precision. After a long day of walking and learning I ended the night with dinner at a Thai restaurant which was a nice change and really tasty.

Overall today was a great balance of culture and innovation. I feel like I learned a lot and saw two very different sides of Germany.
