D7: Munich

Today we headed to Munich and was nice because we did not have to leave until 9:30 AM and so we were able to sleep in some. Today was the first day that we took the train which would have been a lot nicer, but it was super packed and most of us had to stand very close together for the forty minute ride. Once we were there we headed to the town square where we began our tour. The tour was a little longer today ranging around two hours, but there was some really interesting facts that I learned. Something that fascinated me was within the one ally was a line of gold paint on the stones and was painted to show the resistance that some Germans kept during the rise of the Nazi Regime. It was made illegal to not salute the Nazi flag whenever you passed by and some many used the ally to avoid the large one that was on the main boulevard. The paint paid homage to the Germans who silently resisted Hitler and the Nazis.

After the tour we were given around four hours to explore the city and be free to do whatever we wanted. The first stop was food as I was starving and we ate and had some authentic German food which hit the spot. After a long stop my group visited a couple shops before seeing the English gardens which were beautiful although by the end my feet and legs were really sore. Before meeting back with the group we stopped by some friends at an Irish pub and saw some locals watching the last day of the Bundesliga which was really cool. We finally met back up with everyone and headed to dinner. The walk was a little long or at least felt so because of how sore I was, but it was worth it. We had smash-burgers which was amazing and I probably ate mine within two minutes. After dinner we quickly headed to the train station and headed back to Augsburg which was a much better ride being way less crowded and being able to sit. Despite getting back home late it was a great day and I am interested and ready to learn at Dachau tomorrow.
