Peak Point in Greece

Today, we started off our day with an informative lecture at UNIC by Professor Sarigiannis. We learned more about peptide products becoming increasingly popular, and how various venoms from snakes, lizards, and even scorpions is derived for peptide production. I was very intrigued by this topic as a chemical engineering major and bioengineering minor, as the peptide products range from skincare regimens to the futuristic peptide-based self-healing glass. It was interesting being able to speak with Professor Sarigiannis about his work and upcoming research publications. Following our lecture, we received a guided tour of the Benaki museum in Kolonaki, which was different from the previous archaeological focused museums we have toured. The Benaki museum instead is more artworks focused, and offers artworks from the prehistoric era of Greece to modern times, which I found fascinating. It was truly eye-opening to see how Greece has evolved through artworks, such as forms like jewelry or home design. Finally, we took a cable car up to the top of Mount Lycabettus, which is the highest point of central Athens. I was amazed by the stunning view overlooking the entire city, and experiencing the highest point in the city was certainly the best way to end our program day.
