Hey! My name is Carly Brief and welcome to my blog! Join me in my adventures across the globe to experience an entirely new and different culture. I will be traveling to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for Pitt’s Plus3 trip and I am so grateful to be able to be a part of such an unbelievable opportunity!
I lived in a small town called Garrison, New York nearly my whole life. It is located not quite “upstate” but also not quite “New York City.” I decided to attend Pitt after seeing the city. I realized that I wanted to have a college experience that was not centered solely around the campus. I wanted to experience the culture, the people, the opportunities, and everything else this fun city has to offer. So now I am a freshman student in the College of Business Administration. I have an undecided major, however, I know that I would somehow like to incorporate sustainability and environmental studies into my degree. This plan, along with many other plans throughout my college experience, is not figured out at the moment.
I was interested in the Vietnam Plus3 Program from the first meeting we had here at Pitt; I believe that was on the first day of Orientation week. Hearing about this kind of trip, where young adults could learn and be a part of a culture so different from our own, was something that got me really excited for all the opportunities Pitt had to offer. Vietnam encompasses such a beautiful and unique culture that I am so unfamiliar with as of now. I can’t wait to meet new people, eat new foods, learn about the history, and learn about the developing city, especially from the business side.
I have no doubt in my mind that this will be one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. I am thrilled to know that I will be gaining knowledge, worldly experiences, and new friends in such a short period of time. So don’t forget to check my updates daily, starting May 5th!!!
