First thing this morning we had a walking tour through Buenos Aires. We stopped at various buildings and important monuments and learned about the history behind them. Our final stop on the tour was the cemetery where Evita Perón rests. It was interesting to see all the different graves and crypts and learn some more history behind Evita before heading to the Evita Perón museum. 

The Evita Perón museum was different than I expected. We got to see more artifact based things opposed to reading about historical information. I really enjoyed looking at Evita’s outfits and seeing how the fashion differed from fashion in the United States during the time she was alive. Evita’s influence in Argentina is undeniable and it was interesting to learn more about her influence and how her presence combined with her husband’s changed Argentina. General Juan Perón was also very important politically in Argentina during the time he was president. He was responsible for the establishment of unions and public healthcare. Peronism came to be after industrialization and had a main focus on workers. He was neither a liberal nor a marxist in comparison to the United States but somewhere in the gray area. His politics were very against revolution and were focused on bridging the gap between capital and labor.
