Car Wars Episode 0: T-Minus Two Weeks to Arrival in Germany

Hello all, and welcome to my blog! My name is Grace, and I am a pre-med student majoring in Bioengineering at the Swanson School of Engineering. I am also pursuing minors in chemistry and mathematics and the Conceptual Foundations of Medicine Certificate. I hail from a smallish town called Lima, Ohio (approximately four hours away from Pittsburgh), which is most famous for its Kewpee Hamburgers. This summer, I will be embarking on a two-week study abroad journey in Augsburg, Germany. I chose this particular Plus3 program because I am interested in learning about what makes Germany’s automobile industry so prestigious and how engineering and business are connected in this context. I have taken German classes for five years, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the German culture (especially the food). I also went on a tour in southern Germany with my family in the summer of 2016, so I would like to revisit the area from an academic perspective. As for fun facts about me, I enjoy playing the piano and fencing, the first car I ever attempted to drive was a Porsche Cayenne S, and I was the valedictorian of my high school. Additionally, my closest friends know that I have a tendency to make cringeworthy puns (e.g., How does German cereal say “hi”? Gluten Tag).
Stay tuned for more blog posts! In the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger (ironically enough, he’s not German), “I’ll be back.”
