Hi! My name is Katherine Stevenson, and I am majoring in Bioengineering at the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. I am originally from Lumberton, New Jersey, but I have definitely found a home at Pitt. When applying to Plus 3 Germany, I chose the Augsburg location because the globalization of business and engineering fascinates me, especially in the automobile industry. As a bioengineering student, I often study how all of the interconnected parts of a system work together to make the whole organism tick. This same big-picture mindset can be applied to the automobile industry, which relies on many separate parts functioning smoothly as a system to make the industry as a whole efficient. I am also really excited to experience German culture, as I have never been to Germany before!
In my free time, I love to hike, sail, ski, and read. A fun fact about me is that I am going to be staying in Europe for 2 weeks after the Plus 3 trip ends with my friend Kate (who is also going to Plus 3 Germany!), and visiting Amsterdam, Antwerp, and Paris. So, if anyone has any backpacking tips, we would welcome them!
I’m looking forward to my time in Germany! Thanks for reading!
