Okay, this is far from being Disney. In fact, I personally don’t see the similarities between the Disney Castle and the Neuschwanstein Castle, but it is true that Walt Disney was heavily inspired by this castle when designing his own. Along with our day at BMW, this was one of the days I was most excited for before leaving for Germany. Just like most days, I started with a sandwich and a bus ride to our destination. When we arrived, I expected to be at the foot of the castle, but I was wrong. The bus stopped and let us out at the bottom of a mountain.
The castle wasn’t as far as I thought it would be, and before I knew it, we were taking pictures outside the castle. We had a short amount of time to take pictures and visit a souvenir store, and then it was time for our tour. The castle’s interior was quite impressive. The bed in the king’s bedroom was something to behold; it had a model of the castle on top, overlooking the room just as the real castle overlooks the land below. There was also a room in the castle that replicated a cave. I’m not sure what purpose the room had, but it was unique and interesting to see. The tour was over fairly quickly, unfortunately. Our tour guide explained that most rooms in the castle were never completed, so most of the castle is empty and unfinished.
After exiting the castle, we went to a nearby bridge, where I was able to take among my favorite pictures of the trip so far. We then hiked down the aforementioned mountain back to the bus, which took us to a nearby town. We had lunch here, and then we broke apart to explore the city. Some of us went to a souvenir shop first and then to a church which would be closed until after we had to leave. We ventured to the back of the church, where we found a path leading down to a small river. We spent a few minutes by the river before heading back to meet the group.
After a very hot bus ride, we were back at the hotel. I stayed there for awhile before meeting a couple friends to go to dinner. We found a new place today, so I tried a completely new food: the Big Easy Beef Salad. It was a monster salad with beef, peanuts, peppers, and balsamic dressing. We left the restaurant satisfied and declared that we would go back before the end of the trip. It’s hard to believe that our time here is almost done. Over the next couple days, I will definitely try to make the most of the trip.
