From Pittsburgh to Dublin!

Hello! My name is Shawn Coologhan and I am a current Junior in the College of Business Administration majoring in finance and Marketing. I am a member of the Sports Business Association, as well as a member of the practice squad for our Women’s Basketball team. Currently, I intern at a small financial planning and accounting firm in Pittsburgh. After graduation, I hope to work at a small financial planning firm while studying to become a Certified Financial Planner, with the end goal of one day owning my own financial planning business.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, so I have never been too far from home. My only international travel experience is a trip to Niagra Falls. However, I am very excited to be going to Ireland on the Plus3: Ireland trip as my first what I consider to be “real” international experience. I had never really thought about studying abroad very much before, but when I got the email about this program it seemed like the perfect fit. I really like the two-week period of it. It gives us the opportunity to have an international experience and still allows us the majority of the summer to work or intern. Personally, I  also chose this program because of the destination. As you may be able to tell from my name, I have a very Irish family so I have always been very interested to see the country where I get a lot of my heritage from. Professionally, I think this program offers a lot of great experiences through the company visits and interacting with the employees of these companies.  Overall, I just think this program was the perfect fit for me and I can’t wait to get to Dublin!
