Day 1 of being in Ireland was great! After a long day of traveling we were able to walk around and explore Dublin. I noticed that everyone here is very nice and talkative, which I expected for the most part. There were a few things pertaining to food that surprised me. For instance, I learned that black pudding is in fact pig’s blood! Susanne Bach spoke with us about relationship etiquette which included always making sure to engage in some small talk prior to asking questions when speaking with someone, which is different than the US. Even though small talk is acceptable in the US, it is also acceptable to just bluntly go into someone’s office and ask them a question. For the most part, this matches up with the expectations that I had about relationship etiquette in Ireland. Overall, my first day in Dublin was a success!
