Day 4: Come Bella Como é

Today was our day trip to Como! We started the day off with a visit to Mantero Seta Spa (after cappuccinos of course), which is a company that makes silk and various other fabrics.  We got to see the world famous archive of fabrics, as well as the process of creating these fabrics and scarves for various luxury fashion brands.  I could not believe my eyes as I watched Louis Vuitton scarves printed from scratch onto silk (what girl doesn’t dream of owning a Louis).  Some other brands that they make textiles for are Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Fendi, and more.  Many of the designs were for next season’s collection, so we weren’t allowed to take pictures of the fabric (yeah, I’m pretty exclusive).  I fan-girled the whole time, and of course spent every euro I had left in the outlet store there… Yep, I need to take another trip to the bank

After that, we ate lunch at a local pizzeria in Como.  I had the salame picante, but I only ate half of it.  My friends and family would find this odd, but you have to eat pizza with a fork and knife here (it’s not cut in slices) which really slows me down.

Then we took a walking tour and and boat tour of the town.  We saw the famous cathedral there and learned a lot about the history of the town.  On the boat tour, we got to see the mansions that sit lakeside to Lago di Como.  We saw the mansions that belong to George Clooney and the royal family of Saudi Arabia.  It started pouring during the tour and we had to head back to shore.

Como, you were good to us <3
