Churches and Chicken Nuggets

Today was a pretty lax day for me. I took advantage of our late meeting time and slept in, and it was much needed. Then at noon we headed off for a tour of the Accademia Gallery, a museum filled with mostly marble statues made by artists during the Italian Renaissance.  I loved this museum because I think sculpting is one of the most intriguing and beautiful forms of art. Inside the museum is the famous Statue of David by Michaelangelo. I was so in awe seeing it in person, as I have seen it in pictures so many times before. It was a lot bigger than I ever imagined it to be and truly stunning. We also saw a lot of the works Michaelangelo created as a beginner artist and failed sculptures, so it was crazy to see his progress.

Then we went on a quick tour of the outside of the Duomo of Florence, a beautiful pink and green marbled cathedral. I did not go in the inside because I’m not religious, and don’t feel like it’s necessary to wait in the huge line to enter this place of God that I do not even worship. I went shopping with friends and then got McDonalds because I just needed a break from pizza and pasta for one day. The chicken nuggets were bomb. I’m super sad to be leaving Florence. It’s such a beautiful city and I am going to miss it so much. 1CF954AD-8478-4860-9EAF-D4DD7B0EB752
