Day 6: Food makes you thick

One more day in the books and I still am amazed at everything this city has to offer. Today started out with class at Griffith then a few of us got lunch at cute little cafe called Noshington. Their desserts looked amazing, but my budget only allowed for me to have a sandwich. The sandwich was AMAZING.  After lunch we traveled to Bord Bia to listen to a presentation about their company. They were kind enough to have coffee and some sweets for us to much on while listening to them speak. We were shown around their office and heard about their company.

Ireland Inc. is a platform for Irish and American businesses to engage with each other to promote a balanced relationship. I have seen this many times throughout my days in Dublin. Many Irish businesses engage with American businesses or even have their business in America. Bord Bia, a historically Irish company, also has an office in New York. I found this so interesting because Bord Bia literally means Irish food board, but have offices that are not in Ireland. Irish companies are very passionate about giving back to the Irish economy and helping other Irish companies thrive as well. For example, Bord Bia has a program where they will send students to finish a graduate degree while working. Afterwards, the students can either stay with Bord Bia, work for another food industry, or find another job all together. The retention rate for this program is 80%. The fact that a company is willing to pay for their education, even when they know the student could potentially not come back to work for the company, is incredible. Overall the Irish companies are looking out for themselves, but they are also looking out for their economy.
