Hi, I’m Ignacio (Nacho), originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico! I am a mechanical engineering undergraduate here at the University of Pittsburgh. I chose to study mechanical engineering because I like the intersectionality it has between all the engineering disciplines. I especially like physics, calculus, and 3D modeling. I hope to eventually work in sustainable product design and city planning related fields.
Aside from engineering, I love playing my electric guitar. I enjoy playing a lot of metal, jazz, and technical songs. Some of my favorite artists as of late have been Masayoshi Takanaka, Title Fight, and HUM. As for more active hobbies, I enjoy rollerblading and rock climbing. I also love other extreme sports when the weather allows, like snowboarding and surfing. One day I’d love to work in engineering fields that would let me further my hobbies, like skate park design or product design in the guitar industry.
Out of all the options I was presented with, I chose Plus3 Netherlands for its sustainability program. Like I mentioned previously, I hope to one day work within engineering in more sustainable and environmentally friendly areas. Sustainability is a massive part of my focus as an engineer and being able to attend a program fully dedicated to sustainability was a no brainer. I’ve been also incredibly interested in the infrastructure of The Netherlands. From its advanced railways to the walkable design of cities like Amsterdam, The Netherlands has been on my bucket list for far too long. I am incredibly excited to be able to visit these cities and see all the improvements in sustainability they’ve made!
Thank You so much for reading!
Album Recommendation: Floral Green – Title Fight (Listened to it while writing this!)
