Saturdays are for Shopping!

Today was a really relaxed day.  We got to sleep in this morning which was much needed! We met with a tour guide and walked to see the statue of David which was super neat. The statue was much larger than I thought it was going to be. It wasn’t proportionate either because, for instance, his right hand was extra large compared to the rest of his body. After we saw the statue, we walked to the Duomo and some of us went inside but i didn’t because I was wearing a dress and my knees were exposed.

After that, we had the rest of the day free! We got some lunch at a little restaurant right by our hotel and it was very cute. The waiter was very nice and gave us a free glass of wine because we had to wait for out table. We went to a bag shop sort of off the beaten path and I bought my mom a really nice leather purse that was 50% off. I can’t wait to give it to her for mothers day when I get back. We found a really authentic Italian shoe store and I bought a pair of plat form sandals, different from any I have seen! I’m excited to go home and show them off.

Once we were done shopping, we went to dinner next to the Duomo and we ate dinner outside. I had spaghetti and meatballs and it was delicious! We got gelato for dessert and that was also very good. Overall, I had a really good and relaxing last day in Florence.
