Yesterday was another busy day, Plus3 Ireland traveled to two companies FoodCloud and Enterprise Ireland to get information on the how non-profits and state agencies get on in Ireland. Both companies would multinational but on two very different scales. Both work if effort to to better ‘Ireland Inc’ with interesting initiatives that give back in multiple ways to the Irish community.
I loved everything about the first visit. Our speaker was great and informative, the tour gave us insight on how the company works and operates despite their small facilities. John went over all the in’s an out’s of the company including their revenue sources, company costs, technology and some background on the founders of the company. The idea of connecting big companies who produce a ton of food waste to charities and organizations who could use the food is not new but the integration of technology is great and helps to make the process a lot more efficient.
Enterprise Ireland operates on bigger scale. Their main focus was to help create opportunities for start up with potential companies in Ireland and across the globe. This helps out the Irish market by creating more jobs in Ireland and providing funding to universities. I love how they value leadership and entrepreneurship by giving startups the recourses to succeed. They have an initiative to increase the number of women in leadership positions in the start up companies the back their efforts to do so is commendable as at the start of the program only 7% of the CEOs of the startups were female but the new statistic reveals that number has grown to over four Tim’s that value.
