Thomas Angelo Honors Scholarship Reflection

Firstly, I would like to thank the Thomas Angelo Honors Scholarship for providing me with a scholarship that helped me study abroad this summer. My appreciation is very strong, and I could not be more thankful that I had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy this summer.
This scholarship reduced the financial burden that this trip endured, and it allowed me to feel more comfortable about going abroad. Studying outside of the United States is an experience that I wish everyone could experience and it is a memory that I will never forget. The focus of our trip was on the supply chain of the fashion industry. As a group, we travelled all around northern Italy stopping at various companies for site visits. These site visits were very informative and the companies were very generous with their space, allowing us to see behind the scenes. Besides learning from the site visits, this trip also provided cultural information as well.
My two weeks abroad have revealed to me that I would definitely be interested in studying abroad again. I plan to pursue a double major in Marketing and Supply Chain Management and possibly a minor in Economics. My plan is to try and study abroad in Australia for a semester junior year where I could focus my studies on Marketing.
Throughout my time in Italy, studying the supply chain of the fashion industry, I learned what goes into the final product of clothing that we see in stores. Site visits at multiple points in the supply chain of the fashion industry gave me insight as to what occurs at each step in the process of making clothes. I also learned that the fashion industry is quite universal and the business aspects such as advertising do not differ much between Europe and the United States. Once again, I am impeccably grateful for the Thomas Angelo Honors Scholarship that allowed me to participate in the Plus3 Italy program.
