Hello! My name is Jeffery Buscher, and I am a freshman in the Swanson School of Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh. I plan on majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in aerospace engineering.

I was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, but in 2nd grade I moved to a small town in North Eastern Pennsylvania called Dallas where I have stayed ever since (not to be mistaken for Dallas, Texas) . It is 5-6 hrs East of Pittsburgh and 2 hrs North of Philadelphia. I am an only child, but I am never bored. I live with my mom and my amazing Yellow Labrador Retriever Riley.
Growing up I always like building things and learning how each mechanism worked. When I first had to decide what I wanted to do with my life, the path of engineering was an easy choice. Outside of the school setting, I love being in the outdoors, and any excuse to get me outside I take. I always go hiking and running for fun. In fact, next summer I plan on hiking the whole Appalachian Trail ( a trail that goes from the bottom of the US to the top: 2,190 miles). I am a very big sports fan; I follow pretty much every sport. Dogs are my absolute favorite thing in the world, and I can’t live without one. Inside of school, I am apart of a club called Design for America as well as the rock climbing club. In my free time, I hang out with friends by going to movies, local parks, zoos, and exploring Pittsburgh with all the different foods it has to offer.
In Summer of 2019, I will be going to Augsburg, Germany as apart of the Plus3 program. I have never been over seas before, so this will help with my travel abroad skills. I am very excited to learn about the history and culture of Germany. I am looking forward to the opportunity to experience how German engineers work. After the program is over, I am hoping to have a better understanding of how manufacturing in the automotive field works, and what it takes to be an real engineer.
