Germany Bound!

Hey everyone!

My name is Jessica Landolfi and I’m a freshman at the College of Business Administration. I come from a small town in South Jersey called Woodstown, but I spend all my summers down in Ocean City, New Jersey where I work. I love being at the beach and enjoying summer, so OC is one of my favorite places to be.

At Pitt Business, I am currently majoring in Marketing and Supply Chain, with a certificate in Non-Profit management. With my degree, I’m looking to do work for non-profits and social enterprises that have a positive impact on the world. It has always been a dream of mine to work for an organization like National Geographic, Thorn, or Charity: Water that has a global initiative to better the world.

On campus, I spend my time with the business organization Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) or with the theatre department, Pitt Stages. I just finished working on our production of Into the Woods and will gladly talk your ear off about it if you ask me. Aside from these things, I enjoy spending my free time listening to music, practicing sign language, and thrifting.

Before starting this program, I knew I had a lot to learn with the automobile mobile industry and Germany as a country, but I was excited nonetheless. There are few opportunities for a student to not only be able to study abroad but actually, study the industries in a country as well. With automobiles, in particular, this is the signature of Germany. As a business student studying supply chain, there is no better way to learn hands-on than to go from raw material industries to manufacturers. Academically, this program is not only supplemental but crucial to understanding what I am studying beyond the book.  Although supply chain is my intended major, there are still parts that remain unsure of my professional path. I hope that this program will help to reaffirm my major choices and possibly open up new goals for me professionally as well.

Although I chose this program for academic and professional reasons, I can’t help but to be excited to travel to Germany as well. There is so much to learn from a country that can only be learned from emersion. With all of the new people and places in store for the trip, I’m excited to see how I grow on the trip. With the last trip I did with Pitt Business, I could feel the change in myself as I published my last blog post. Now that I have a global experience under my belt, I hope to use it to jump start my experiences in Germany to learn, experience, and explore as much as I can. I cannot wait to travel abroad with the group and I hope we can all become “Berliners” together.
