Hello! My name is Zach Goldstein and I am currently a freshman business student in the College of Business Administration. I am currently undecided on my major, but I am most likely going to pair either marketing or finance with a degree in business information systems. On campus, I am a member of Panther Equity and Hurling. Panther Equity is an investment club where I assist in the management of a virtual $100,000 equities portfolio using discounted cash flow valuation techniques to value and select stocks. This year, I was a member of the industrial sector, and helped select which industrial stocks we should invest in. Hurling is a club sport at Pitt. It is a Gaelic sport, that I would best describe as a combination between lacrosse and field hockey. We compete against other Universities all across the United States.
I am from Lower Merion, Pennsylvania; which is around 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia. I went to Lower Merion High School and while I was there, I played lacrosse for my school, and soccer for my school and my club team. I am a huge sports fan, and root for the Eagles, 76ers, Phillies and Flyers. Hopefully the 76ers can continue to win in the playoffs while I am in South Korea. This summer I will be interning at Exeter Property Group and I am very excited and grateful for this amazing opportunity.
I chose to apply for the Plus3 program in South Korea for a variety of reasons. When I was originally making my decision for which location to put as my top choice, I was predominantly looking at the industries that would be studied in each location, and I found the Smart System industry to be the most fascinating of all the industries offered at each location. I believe that as a society, Smart Systems will be used more in the near future and be a part of our everyday life, so learning the business behind them is very fascinating for me. After some reading, the companies that we would potentially be meeting with while in South Korea seemed very interesting, and I was hooked on wanting to be a part of the first Plus3 group to visit South Korea.
Besides the industry, I am extremely excited to be immersed in the culture of South Korea while I am there as well as visit the many tourist attractions. I have been to South America, Europe, and the Middle East, but I have never been to eastern Asia and that it something that I have always wanted to do. I believe it will be amazing to be able to see the Royal Palace, DMZ, Han River, Bukchon, Insadong, Changdeokgung, Namdaemun Market, and Gyeongju City. Of those places, I am most excited to visit the DMZ and the Royal Palace. While in South Korea I want to be able to try all the local food and I believe that they will taste amazing. I am so excited for my two weeks in South Korea and am ready to get the most out of them that I can.

Very interesting
