Day 1: Flights of Fun

The plan I stuck with to start out this adventure was to stay up all night until we had to leave for the airport to catch our first flight to Dallas Fort Worth. I had arrived at Pitt earlier Friday afternoon filled with excitement to embark on this journey to South Korea. I ate my last American meal at the one and only McDonalds that night and was ready to go. Gathering in towers lobby at 3:50 am was how my Saturday began. The early morning bus ride to Pittsburgh International Airport was a breeze and started the trip off great. Getting both the China and Korea groups situated at the baggage check was complicated but ended up working out swiftly. The security line was trouble-free and off we went to our gate. The flight to Dallas seemed like it would be super fast compared to the dreadful fourteen hours to Seoul. The three hours to Fort Worth went without issue, however, our time there was brief; Our group took a quick tour of the Dallas Fort-Worth airport riding the tram around almost all of it to reach the correct terminal we were departing from. The two-hour layover there allowed for myself and the rest of the students attending the trip to grab some breakfast and prepare for the long flight approaching. A few other members and I went to the classic Chick-Fil-A for the most important meal of the day and I chowed down a chicken and biscuit sandwich before we had to board. After we ate, the time had finally come to hunker down and attempt to sleep a good portion of the long flight to Korea. I had my neck pillow strapped and ready to go on my window seat for the flight. I sat down and started watching the movie Hell or High Water but I fell asleep halfway through. The rest of the flight consisted of the same thing: waking up every few hours, starting a new movie, and then falling back to sleep. The flight seemed like it was never going to end, but we had finally arrived in Korea at 3:00 pm, ready to take the country by storm!
