Day 1: 14 Hours Later

So my journey finally began. I had been waiting for so long that it didn’t feel like it was actually happening. I arrived early Friday morning to University of Pittsburgh and was able to get settled in Nordenberg. I spent the day hanging out with friends and trying to make the time pass by. My Plus3 Korea group had a delicious dinner at Korea Garden to kick off everything. Our first flight left at 7:35 am so we had to leave the campus at 4:30 am. I ended up getting two hours of sleep and then fell asleep quickly on the plane. The first flight to Dallas was a breeze, only three hours, when you compare it to the 14 hour flight to Seoul. At Dallas a group of us had a hearty breakfast at Chick-fil-a and it ended up being my last American meal before it was time to head to Korea. Even still at this point it still had not hit me that I was going to South Korea. I had been waiting for this for such a long time and it was finally here but did not feel like it. So our plane for the long flight was a relatively new and large plane which was nice. Unlucky for me though I was in the middle seat with limited leg room. I only slept for like 3 hours and spent the rest of the time watching endless movies. Good for me though, American Airlines had a great selection of movies so I had plenty to pick from. As we were getting ready to land I was able to look out the window and I could actually see Korea. It started to hit me that I’m here. I was looking at a new location that I had never been too. The scene looked so pretty with the ocean and the land and it was making me so excited to be here. After all this wait I was finally in South Korea and the time of my life was about to start.
