First Night In Seoul

After our long day of traveling we finally arrived in South Korea on Sunday afternoon. After going through customs and getting our luggage, we boarded a bus to our hotel. The ride lasted around an hour, and on the ride we learned a ton of amazing facts about Korea from our amazing tour guides. I learned that there are around 25 million people in the greater Seoul area and 50 million people in all of Korea. Some other facts that we learned that I found very fascinating were that people in South Korea, for the most part, only drive white, black and grey cars because they do not want to stand out. I also learned that there are barely any trashcans outside in the city.

Seoul in the distance

Finally, after a day of traveling we reached our hotel. The hotel rooms were very interesting and a little different than what I was expecting. You need to insert your room key into a slot to be able to turn on the lights and use the outlets, which is something I am not used to.

After a having a little bit of time to freshen up, we walked to our dinner at a traditional Korean restaurant. Our meal was preset, and it was delicious. It was set up as a family style meal where you shared each dish with four people. There were so many dishes that were brought to us and each dish was brought so quickly that we did not have time to finish each plate before the next came out. Some of the highlights of the meal included duck, pork, fish, rice with vegetables, salads, soup and a ton more.

After our meal, we headed back to our hotel. I was exhausted from the long two days and decided to go to sleep on the earlier side so that I would have energy for the next day. The first night in Seoul was amazing, and I am looking forward for the rest of my time in this amazing city.
