Presentations on Presentations (Day 11)

By: Nicholas Erni May 15th

Today was the day. It was presentation day. The cloud that had been looming over all of us the whole trip would finally move on.

It was a typical morning. We got some breakfast at the hotel, woke up at 8:30, etc. But unlike the other days we ventured over to Augsburg university right in the morning @ 9:30am. Steph, Brett, Frank and I made the journey over so we could prepare our presentation which was at 1:00pm later in the day.

The preparation began in the business faculty where we pretty much all just looked over the slides to find any grammatical or format errors, in which there was quite a lot. After that we ran over our presentation about 3 times so we could try to nail the 20 minute mark exactly. It was a struggle to get that mark due to the fact we had so much information we wanted to speak upon. We got past this and got our presentation to about 21 minutes in the practice. We were unsure of what to cut out, but we all agreed on trimming the pest down. Our pest analysis was extremely long, due to the fact the Germans were so passionate about it.

From the preparation, we moved to the Mensa where we just had some chicken for lunch, which I miss so dearly, i’m getting tired of the German food not going to lie.

After lunch the whole program met in our presentation room, where we would be for the next 4 hours. Every single presentation from my point of view was excellent. Even though some groups had better tours and companies than others, everyone made it work! To have students from different countries with different ideals, come together and create such great presentations is very impressive. All of us had our own ways of thinking about how we should execute our plans and projects, but luckily we were able to put them aside and work together. Im not entirely sure what grade my group got yet, but I’m sure we did well. It went as smooth as I think it could’ve possibly gone!

One last picture at the University of Augsburg

After our time at the university, we headed back to the hotel where I took at nap. The group met down in the lobby where we signed cards for the german administrators. We then ventured to the Ratskeller. This is a restaurant in the basement of the town hall. The location of this restaurant was awesome. To be able to eat in the bottom of the town hall was quite an experience. Also I was very nice to see all of the students and teachers we had seen over the course of the trip all at once. We exchanged gifts with the Germans in our groups, they all loved the gifts, from what I think at least. I order the Schnitzel at the Ratskeller, it was not the best I’ve had, but it definitely was not the worst. I would most likely give it a 7.5/10.

From dinner I went back to the hotel where I just relaxed for the rest of the night.

Selfie with all the students we met on the trip

Sorry for the short blog, there wasn’t to much we did today! Also I’m slacking on the car of the day, once again I didn’t take a picture of one.
