Operation: Beachside (May 17)

Today was our last day in Busan, and our last day in South Korea. Our agenda for the day was nothing, we had complete freedom to do what we wanted until our farewell dinner. My friends and I decided we were going to go back to the first beach we were at in Busan, only this time not in business attire. It was the perfect day for the beach too, sunny and over 80 degrees. The water on the other hand, was not as warm. It was freezing! After being in it for five minutes we had to come back to shore and relax for about half an hour just to feel warm again.

While we were on the beach, we met some people from France who we played soccer with for a while. Since France won the 2018 World Cup, the were naturally much better than us. Also, beach soccer is exhausting. The uneven sand is hard to run in and the ball bounces in weird directions. It was still a ton of fun, even though we lost. We then spent an hour more on the beach just relaxing and taking in the amazing view. We then bought some of the best ice cream I have ever had in my life and then went back to the hotel to prepare for our farewell dinner.

Before we ate, Dr. Yun, Dr. Clarke, and our Asia Institute staff gave some great speeches about how much they enjoyed the trip. We then expressed our gratitude back to them, as we bought them a cake as a thank you present for all their hard work. We were then given our final exam. Dr. Yun put 24 bags on a table, each with our names in Korean. If we got the right bag, we could keep it and we passed the class. I got mine my first try, since my cooking class certificate had my name in Korean on it. We then had a great buffet of just about every type of Korean food we have had yet, along with some odd balls such as Japanese style sushi, no complaints though. We then went back to the hotel and enjoyed our last view hours together before going to bed. Tomorrow, we wake up at 6:00am, and make our return trip back to the United States.
