Our journey home began with a 6 hour bus ride from Busan to the airport in Seoul. When we finally arrived, we said our goodbyes to the organizers from the Asia Institute, who helped run our trip. They were all very nice people and did a great job. Once we got through security, i sat at the gate and began hoping that everything would go smoothly, and that I would make all of my connections. But apparently I didn’t hope hard enough, because my trip home was filled with chaos.
After a couple of hours of sleep and a few movies, I landed in the Dallas airport right on time. So far, so good. However, while waiting in line in customs, I found out my flight out of Dallas to Charlotte was delayed an hour, meaning I would miss my flight from Charlotte to Pittsburgh. So, as soon as I made it through security, I went up to the gate agent to see if there was any way I could make it back to Pittsburgh tonight. Lucky for me and a couple of the other people from the trip on my flight, we were switched onto a direct flight from Dallas to Pittsburgh. However, our time in the airport was not over. After many delays, we finally boarded the flight to Pittsburgh, and landed there at around 2:00 AM local time. We had been traveling for over 30 hours, so I was glad to have finally made it back. Unfortunately, my bag did not make it, but that was a problem to worry about another day, not at 2 in the morning.
My next post will be a summary of my entire trip, and will also be my final post. This trip was a great experience, and something that I will remember forever. I am so glad that I decided to go!
