Today started off with what felt like a never ending drive. We left the hotel early in the morning to begin our approximately 5 hour drive to Gyeongju. The South Korean countryside was actually very cool to see, so it helped passed the time. Along the way, we stopped at a couple rest stops, where we had a chance to get lunch. At the first stop they had a Krispy Kreme donut shop, so I had to grab some doughnuts. It was a great taste of home and a nice break from korean food. At the second stop I got lunch, and it was back to korean food. I got some kind of fried meat on a stick, and I wasn’t sure what it was, but I didn’t question it cause it tasted good.
Eventually, we made it to Gyeongju, and right away I could tell it was a completely different city than Seoul. It is a much smaller city, closer to a town, and is more focused on the historical features of Korea than modern ones. We spent the evening exploring the town, we offered some pretty incredible sights:

Tomorrow we have a packed day off exploring the historical sights around Gyeongju, which was home to the capital of the Silla empire over 1000 years ago. I am very excited, because I am a huge fan of history and I will definitely get some of that tomorrow.
