Our day today started with a site visit to Trainor Korea. This is a smaller company that focuses on training and certifying laborers in South Korea. It is focused more on online training courses, so it was cool to see a company utilizing technology to better the world, being that their main purpose is to make the workplace safer for Korean factory workers. They also shared with us how they are using new VR and AR technology to make their programs better, which is another great example of their use of new technologies.

In the afternoon, we visited the Busan New Container Terminal, or BNCT, which is one of the largest shipping yards in the country. They specialise as a sort of middle man in the shipping industry – they use their yard to move products from the ships of the producer to the ships that deliver the products to their final destination. They also have space for trucks to take imports into Korea directly from the shipping yard. I enjoyed seeing this operation because it has a heavy focus on the optimization of the process, which is a major aspect of my major, Industrial Engineering. In fact, the CEO who gave us a presentation told us that time from yard to ship for the containers is a major selling point when talking to potential clients.

After the visit I had my first chance to try Korean Fried chicken for dinner, which was extremely good. I would even say it was some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. So far, Busan has been just as cool as Seoul, even though it is different in many ways. I am excited for what I get to experience these last few days!
